Dear Parents
Welcome to our end of year newsletter
Kingswood – Year 6 had a great week and were a credit to us. Mr Power accompanied them until Wednesday morning and I took over for the latter half of the week. Mr French, however, had the stamina to survive a whole week and must take the credit for such a happy and successful trip.
Lunch with the children – Ms Hallums and Mr Crossman enjoyed a gourmet lunch with their son, Teddy, and the Year 6 boys. They were treated to roasted tomato soup, followed by vegetable tartlets and fruit crumble and ice cream, with the rest of Teddy’s class looking on enviously.
Concert – Many thanks to the PTA for funding Street Level for the school this year. We were treated to some wonderful performances in ‘The Wiz of Oz’, but it was the musical ensembles which inspired the audience. To hear the whole Junior School perform in unison to create a fantastic musical extravaganza was a truly uplifting experience.
PTA – Another magnificent year! I really think we must have the best PTA in the country. The dedication and commitment of the whole committee is to be applauded. The Ball raised in excess of £6300 and the Fete brought in another £2951.82. My thanks to all the parents, teachers and teachers’ friends and partners, who support the events as well as the pupils, of course. The money raised will go to providing interactive whiteboards for the hall and art room. In addition, Miss Daltrey has plans for smartening up the sheltered area, which the PTA have kindly agreed to support.
Head Teacher for the day – This auction prize seems to get more and more popular each year. We have had no less than three new Headteachers and a Deputy Head this term! Chloe and Ben Fletcher were in charge of the school on Monday, June 27th, followed by James and Joseph Ormsby on July 4th. A great day was had by all with some new rules including longer playtime, double House points, no ties and prizes for smartness.
Sports Day - Thankfully the weather was kind to us and we enjoyed a great day at Ashton Playing Fields. The Champions for this year are:
| Senior Champion: |
Anthony David |
| Junior Boys Champion: |
Samir Ashraf |
| Junior Girls Champion: |
Isobel Eastmond |
The House Cup this year went to Kings with a magnificent 364 points. Well done to all the participants.
The Swimming Gala - was won by Jud Rabey and Knights.
The Y6 versus Parents cricket match was held on Monday 4th July. It was a fiercely competitive match with the parents emerging as the eventual winners. Thank you to all the parents who took part in the match and to those who provided the wonderful refreshments.
School Uniform Supplier – As previously advised, Henry Taylor will be holding a uniform sale in the school hall on Friday July 8th from 11am to 1pm.
The Golden Leaf Winners These children have been awarded the most leaves during the current academic year and were treated to an outing to Mamalinas in Queens Road, where they enjoyed making a pizza and decorating a cupcake.
| Early Years Foundation Stage: |
Tola Oyewole |
| Infants: |
Saatchi Patel and Tabatha Galliers |
| |
(joint winners this year) |
| Juniors: |
Shivam Kotecha |
Congratulations to all our leaf winners.
Parents Information Booklet – A copy of the new parents’ information booklet is enclosed and I hope that parents will find this a useful reference. My thanks to Mr and Mrs Fletcher for all their help with the printing of the booklet.
Clubs- - Please check your child’s invoice to find out which clubs they are confirmed for. All clubs run from September to July and parents should remember that there is a half a terms cancellation notice period.
Swimming – I am sure that parents will be pleased to know that we have managed to keep the cost of swimming at last year’s rate, despite the increase in fuel costs.
Fees and Payments - Would parents please take the time to read the enclosed letter from the Chair of Governors regarding payment of fees from September.
Welcome to Mrs Prabhan and Mrs Sydenham who join the staff as Teaching Assistants. I know you will make them feel very welcome.
Goodbye. We are very sad to be saying goodbye to Miss Millward and Mrs Perkins. Miss Millward is returning to Australia and Mrs Perkins plans to retire and spend her well-earned time in France.
