Sport and PE

"Standards in physical activities are high and pupils have gained many individual and team successes in these areas."   ISI Inspection September 2010

Sport

The school has a very active Sports Department that offers instruction in gymnastics, athletics, swimming, cross country, football, cricket, short tennis, table tennis, rounders, netball, hockey, dance and tag rugby. An adventure week for Year 6 provides an introduction to archery, fencing, rock climbing, orienteering, caving, abseiling and quad-biking to name but a few. A bi-annual skiing holiday is open to pupils from Year 5 and Year 6: children receive expert tuition and parents are welcome to accompany the party.

Each class has a weekly PE lesson. Games lessons are also weekly and for Juniors these usually take place off site. Swimming lessons commence in Y2. All pupils are involved in Sports Day and have an opportunity to represent their House in annual football, swimming, rounders, netball and cricket competitions. Sporting teams represent the school in local and sometimes national competitions, and their successes highlight the very high standard of tuition available at Daiglen.
