Daiglen School

Religious studies

RE is part of our curriculum for every year group. Although a Christian school, we welcome all faiths into our community. Our children are taught to be tolerant and to respect the beliefs and practice of others.

Religious studies
In teaching RE at Daiglen we aim to address some of the fundamental questions of human nature eg What does it mean to be human? Why are we here? What happens when we die?
Pupils consider belief systems as found in Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and the other principal religions, to see what answers they offer to the questions of life and learn about the major festivals of the principal religions in our area. Older children study the Jewish and Christian scriptures in particular and become familiar with some of their teachings and beliefs.
Speakers from a variety of religious backgrounds are invited to speak in school assemblies and parents are welcomed to their children’s class assembly during the year.
