"Pupils demonstrate particularly good levels of knowledge and understanding, and express their ideas cogently. They read and write intelligently and fluently, and demonstrate a wide range of vocabulary." ISI Inspection September 2010

The aim of English teaching at Daiglen is to ensure that children are literate and confident in their use of the language, both orally and in the written form. The ability to communicate clearly in speech and writing, to listen with understanding and to read enthusiastically, responsively and knowledgeably, is vital to a child’s imaginative and aesthetic life. As English is also the medium of instruction in other subjects, good teaching here is vital to academic progress. We aim to foster a love of the subject and appreciation of language and literature by providing meaningful and enjoyable studies.
In Years 6 and 5 pupils are taught by the specialist teacher, mostly for creative writing and comprehension where individual help is especially useful and ensures that each child is fully prepared for entrance exams and national tests.
